Voyage d’Immersion 2027 à Marseille

TRIP DATES: April 24 - May 2, 2027, with a new optional add-on through May 7, 2027

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Depart USA on April 23 and meet in Marseille on Saturday, April 24. Marseille is France’s oldest and 2nd largest city, located on the Mediterranean coast.

  • Saturday evening we will stay at the Hôtel Mercure Marseille Centre Vieux Port. Sunday morning we will tour the Vieux Port and the Port Antique.

  • Sunday, April 25 through Friday, April 30: Five days and five nights with French host families. Breakfast and four dinners are with our French hosts. We have French class mornings, 9am-1pm at the Alliance Française de Marseille. Afternoon activities include the MUCEM museum, guided tours of the Panier neighborhood, the Frioul islands and the Château d’If, part of the Calanques National Park.

  • Friday, April 30 through Sunday, May 2: Weekend trip to a destination voted on by the group, such as Lyon, Toulouse, or Avignon. One group lunch included.

  • Departure from Marseille, Sunday, May 2.

  • Optional second week (new!): Continue French classes Monday, May 3, through Friday, May 7 and stay with host families or in a hotel/Airbnb.

COST: $2300 per person includes:

  • All in-country transportation until final day, including local transportation passes

  • Five mornings of French classes at the Alliance Française de Marseille

  • Museum entrances: MUCEM, Port antique, Château d’If

  • All accomodation: 3 nights in hotel (single occupancy), 5 nights with a French host family

  • All breakfasts, 4 dinners with your host family, 2 group evening dinners and 1 group lunch (in restaurants)

COST FOR OPTIONAL SECOND WEEK:

  • Option 1: Continue your stay with the same host family, add $900

    • Includes local transportation pass, 4 mornings of French classes, 5 nights lodging, all breakfasts, and 4 evening meals with host family

  • Option 2: Stay in a hotel/Airbnb of your choice, add $600

    • Includes local transportation pass, 4 mornings of French classes; does NOT include lodging or meals

Trip does not include airfare to and from France, or in-country transportation to Marseille.

DEADLINES:

  • Deposit of $500 due Oct. 15, 2026 (pay online here—link will open Oct. 15 at 8am, ETA)

  • Second payment of $900 due Dec. 1, 2026 (pay by check)

  • Remaining balance due Feb. 1, 2027 (pay by check)

This trip is limited to 15 participants.

Information Meetings

An information meeting will be held on Tuesday, Oct 6, 2026, hosted by Joya Bandstra.

There will be an orientation meeting in January before the trip and other opportunities for the group to get to know each other before departure.
