Events and Activities
French Conversation Group
The group meets the second Monday of each month. Anne-Lise Whitescarver, a native of Dijon, France, leads the conversation. All levels of French language proficiency are welcome. Please contact Anne-Lise Whitescarver for more information.
English French Book Club
If you're interested in joining together monthly to read and discuss books written in English, but having to do with things French, or written in French, and translated into English, please contact Marijke Wiersema.
Mardi Gras Fête
Mardi gras is a chance to laissez les bons temps rouler by donning extravagant costumes and masks for the costume contest (or just lots of beaded necklaces), swinging to a fabulous jazz band and feasting on Joel Boland's gumbo.
Bastille Day, or Le quatorze juillet
Celebrated on July 14 each year, Bastille Day is the French National Day. Alliance Française de Grand Rapids celebrates this event each year on the Sunday closest to July 14 with a potluck picnic.
This festive occasion is held in the home of an Alliance Française de Grand Rapids member and is a great opportunity for members to introduce friends to the organization.
Once a year members meet to drink wine, eat cheese and play petanque!
Beaujolais Nouveau Tasting
On the third Thursday of November, members of Alliance Française meet to celebrate the arrival of the new vintage of Beaujolais.
Occasionally AF Grand Rapids hosts speakers who share their particular view of France and French culture.
If you would like to join us at any of these events, please visit our membership page and sign up!
